Well said, Tom.

By being honest the real character of a business shines through and can allow them to connect with the like-minded customers.

As an example the web/IT industry is awash with stressfully tight deadlines and, so many times, those deadlines are overrun. By promoting design businesses as being "laid back" I've seen them reach out and appeal to some very cool customers. The more relaxed attitude has allowed work to be completed in less stressful timescales and everyone has gone home on time, chilled-out and with smiles on their faces.

You make a good point, but I sometimes wonder if people EXPECT companies to overstate their claims, and if they don't they wonder what's wrong. Or maybe it would be a refreshing change to just tell the truth.

I often write press releases and think 'these claims are filler. All a journalist wants is the story'. But most businesses are too scared to take that approach.
