Your post points to that old conundrum, SEO ranking versus conversion rates: What's so great about driving traffic to a landing page if copy/offer/brand fails to engage and convert?

Ultimately the "sales funnel" stretches far beyond copy, to word-of-mouth, value, consistent branding and excellent customer service. It ain't a one-trick pony.

Great post--especially final note on ultimate priority: our families, not egos!

Yeah, agreeing with Ben's comment that sometimes SEO is a loooong game. Clients are often blinded by their desire to be highly-ranked for a particular term and ignore much more-important business objectives.

Spot on. All I would add is that - sometimes - what appears to be marketing/ SEO for its own sake can reap benefits at a later date. For example, you might spend time getting a good Google ranking for a vanity key phrase with little traffic, only to find you win major custom from it six or ten months later.

I rather like that aspect of SEO.
